70 Shadow Priest - From Khaz Modan here. It's fun that we can out DPS most in the game.
Great thanks go out to the following Mentors who have been amazingly helpful with development.
Cannoness, BobtheDwarf, Maxims, Ackillies, Destrek, Guthrie, StickyKronic, Urtica, and Last but not Least Viadolorosa.
Each one of you has guided me down the path... Honored to be at about 800 Bonus Shadow Damage.
Myatha of Khaz Modan

Fighting a shadow priest friend while being a feral speced druid made realize that a 1v1 battle is an eye opener into what i can and cant fight no matter how hard i try. But on the other hand, fighting WITH a shadow priest as a doomchicken in a StreamVaults group with a holy priest made dying next to impossible with the ability for me and the shadow priest able to jump out of DPS form to off heal in the rare occasion our holy priest needed help ^-^

I have never played the class. In fact, it's one of the few where I have very little idea about their abilities at all.
Certainly don't see many running around.

Guess my previous post didn't make it :[
anyways..
I do love priests, a lot, but I wanna speculate a bit.
The best one-man haeler is a paladin. The best multihealer is the druid. And omg shamans are actually pretty close to both but with more oom situations. So where do priests belong? I like priests and I like the heals they give me when I OT or burst dps with me druid but I do feel safer with a paladin... (ofc it depends on the player, but still). It's obvious Blizz killed a lot of what priests had to showoff with and I guess it was pretty wrong. So come on Blizz, pls.
On the other hand, shadow priests are surprinsgly missing in most 'uberdps' discussions and... that's totally wrong, they're supreme in a raid (with a lock even more). It's a strange thing even tho Blizz (iirc) nerfed them as well (seriously, what's wrong with the developers?). I really am enjoying the dps battle between me and a shadow priest and even more when we race in the dps meters.
When it comes down to priest specs there are only two, shadow and holy, and omg... they're both useful, cheer at that fellow healers cause ret pallies are obviously in distress with that, and yes, shammies as well. And if we consider that a shadow priest can still have moderate heals with shadow spec i guess that makes the druid resto tree a little bit under priests ;]
So overall, priests can solo, priests can pvp and pve at the same time with only one spec and that I think makes them a bit far from boring or useless. BUT STILL - Blizz!!! cmon wtf, give em some stuff :<

my alt is a priest, but it's quickly becoming my main. running with groups is my favorite thing to do, and i love logging on for 2 hours and getting about 5 whispers requesting to run instances. :)
healing a group in the midst of chaos is by far the most fun ive had in WoW.
people being surprised that everyone is still alive afterward is the greatest compliment you can get :)
man, i love priests

Priests are pretty damn cool. I've been having a lot of fun with my shadow priest (she's only up to 28 or so) but I've thought about going Disc. They've got so many cool utility spells.
One thing I've got to complain about is some of their talents. First, I don't like that they got Vampiric Touch. I always thought that'd be a great spell for Elemental Shamans to have, and would help them with their mana issues and getting into groups. But it's too late now. We got a pittance instead.
The shadow tree seems perfect. I don't see a whole lot of direction in the Disc tree, but there's a ton of utility there. Holy needs a bit of work, of course. I don't really see how Blizzard could think that Lightwell and Circle of Healing are acceptable as 31 and 41-point talents, but I feel the same way about Totem of Wrath. I just don't understand why Blizzard can't just come up with something new when the community universally says that something sucks, like they did with Shadow Mending. Makes me think they're getting lazy, I'm sorry to say.

I have to say that I just LOVE playing a priest.
Priests are the weak little brothers who are in constant trouble and get very little loving from the parents (or in this case Blizzard. I'm just jealous of the constant attention that the paladins get from Blizz.)
Anyways, back to the topic... My main is a priest at lvl 70. Getting a group alive out of a bad situation is just such a thrill that you have to experience it yourself. I know that priest class is annoying difficult to level up, so I propose a toast to all of us who have made it! :)
@3: I guess you are right, tho. Warriors got 42 posts and priests got 9 :D

I like healing and IMO I am preferred over druids and shammies ;) Pallies and I have a rivalry now BC brought them to Horde, but we heal in different ways.
Holy DOES need to be fixed, but it is still tolerable, and the shadow tree is perfect, all I want from it! When I spec shadow it feels amazing, like a dirty little secret of mine (don't tell my guild I spec shadow ^^), and I go world-pvp CRAZY!
I just wish blizzard would change respeccing, it's unfortunate that priests are crap to grind in if you are holy specced, I STILL have not got my epic flying mount :(
But LOVE priests, for their fortitude buffs, the fact nice ones heal you when you are about to die from a pack of mobs and the fact you love their imba shackling skills in Moroes :D
P.S Sorry about all that reposting I tried to do that heart sign and realised that symbol fucks up the HTML or w.e ;P

My LFG comment says I'm Shadow-specced. So stop inviting me to groups expecting me to heal, or whisper me asking me if I'm holy. The LFG comment exists for a reason.
That said, I enjoy my role as a Mana-battery. I love Paladins for Salvation; they love me for the double-plus mana regeneration from both VT and VE.
However, Priests and Paladins are broken for reverse reasons. Priests are supposed to be "The" healers in the game; yet Paladins, Druids and Shamans out-heal them and out-utilise them. The Priests' "Flash Heal" is roughly three times the mana cost of the Paladin's "Flash of Light"; yet the latter heals roughly 75% of the former. 3x the mana cost for 1.33x the improvement? Makes no sense. A Priests' only AoE heal, Prayer of Healing, is disgustingly mana-inefficient and limited only to very specific 5-man situations.
Conversely, we have Paladins, who everyone expected to be Holy warriors -- yet the Retribution tree is very broken and only really useful in PvP. My GM is a Ret Paladin for Raiding, and, while he does good DPS (keeps up with the rest of us), it's sporadic. He gets his DPS from triple 2K-crits, causing massive bursts in threat level that generally result in him being forced to lay-off the DPS temporarily while the tank regains aggro (On non-boss fights, obviously).
Greetings to everyone on Frostwhisper.

Well knowing plenty of priests I hear time and again how the non-Shadow trees are pretty much broken. Still want to roll a holy damage Disc tree DPS priest though. Would never get a group though.
Feel the pain of the Spriests being expected to heal and no one being able to take a second to check them out in any of a number of ways. Hate being asked to do stuff as a prot pally and then they go "Oh wait, you're holy right?" No, now let me insert this large mace into you.

Shadow is hellova lot of fun to play, while holy makes healing in PvE a breeze. I used to play a mage, but it was always hard to find a group for anything. Now the only people who get more groups than me (as a priest) are warriors.

Discipline is a very viable spec as well. For those of you who don't think so, all i can ask is, "Have you ever tried it?"

Playing shadowpriest with about 1160 shadow dmg atm, having a little time off now for summer, else it'd be higher
I can only say this, i would never roll a holy priest for healing!
When we run heroics there better be a holy pala or 150mp5+ priest in the back healing for me to feal safe ^^,
Cause you drain your mana to no end as holy compared to paladins, and from the looks of it, blizzard arent going to change that rather soon either.
So for all you wanting to roll a "serious healer" dont go with the priest class, not as of yet at least ;)
